Hey there! My name is Alyssa and I am a wedding and portrait photographer. My passion is photographing people, though I enjoy shooting nature too, particularly flowers! I am 20, and have been taking photography seriously for about four years now.

As a very young child I was always fascinated by cameras. I remember my mom giving her old point & shoot film camera to me as a toy because it didn't work anymore. I would have so much fun with it though! I would point it at objects, press the shutter and just love hearing that click! I would fascinate over having an actual working camera someday with film so I could actually see the photos! So perhaps my eye for photography began here. ;)

When I got my first digital camera in 2004, I was in heaven. In my final two grades of highschool I joined my school photo club and that is where my passion grew, as well as here on dA which I joined in 2006. I honestly cannot describe how much being a part of the dA community has helped me grow as a photographer these past 3 years. The advice, constructive criticism and encouragement of the artists on here have really helped me immensely.

I am incredibly thankful as to where I am today and want to give the same support to artists & photographers that was given to me. I am still young and have much to learn, but I would love to offer my help with what I have learned so far to anyone who needs it.

So please don't hesitate to ask me questions, send me a comment, a note. I'd love to be a friend and help you out any way I can with your photography. :)

Quick Update: Wedding Season & New Lens!

Quick Update

It is past 2am here and I should really be catching up on some sleep, but I have been feeling so bad lately for neglecting dA I thought I would write a quick update to let you know why I have been so inactive lately!

Business has really picked up and I am constantly on the computer, but I am editing editing editing! I can hardly keep up with dA anymore. I try to reply to all your comments, but I haven't had time to read journals and comment on deviations. So I am really sorry about that. I will try to catch up as soon as I can!


Wedding Season

First of all, I shot my second solo wedding at the end of March, which went great! I am just about ready to send the bride her DVD of edited images! If you can't wait for me to upload them to dA, you can view some of the sneak peaks on my Facebook Photography Page!

My next wedding is early June and I have two booked in August (the ones I talked about in my last journal). One of the brides is a girl I went to school with since grade 5 and I will be shooting her wedding in Grand Forks, BC. Really excited for that! It's outdoors too. You know natural light makes me VERY happy! :)

My cousin also just got engaged this past weekend, I hope to shoot his wedding too! :D

With each wedding, comes a complimentary engagement session, so you will be seeing more of those photos too soon. Spring is here in BC and I am excited to shoot in warmer weather with longer days! :D


New Lens!

I got a new lens! :w00t: I just picked it up last week. I have invested in the Canon 85mm 1.8! I have heard SO many great things about this lens. I haven't had the time to try it out too much, but so far, I love it. It's sharp wide open and USM so no annoying focusing noise like the 50mm 1.8! I also love that fact that this lens will get even more use once I put it on the full frame 5D. Hope to purchase later this year too. Right now, I am looking for a wide prime lens though. :)
