Hi Alyssa, I saw on another DA's page that you planned to buy a Canon 40 D before your next wedding. If I were you I would look into buying a second hand Canon 5D. they have brought ought a new one so a lot of people will be offloading the older ones and if you buy it from a shop you will get a warranty. being a full frame camera the difference in quality is amazing.
Yeah, I am very short on cash so that is why I was considering the 40D. I will have to check out the prices of a used 5D though too like you said. The only bad thing is then my 50mm 1.8 will become somewhat unusable for closeups, and I'll have to go buy an 85mm. I'll see what financial situation I am in though. I still have until March.
Hi Alyssa, keep your old camera for the 50 mm lens, Tamron have brought out a 70-200 2.8 for a lot less than the Canon lens. I dont know what you charge for your services but it is probably too little, especially for the quality you deliver. Now is the time to look for next years wedding couples. If you have a local paper you should try to get your wedding pictures published ( with the couples consent of course ) Get to know bridal boutique owners and offer them a free bridal fashion shoot in return for promotion in their shop. all of these are very cheap forms of advertising and will hopefully get you the recognition you deserve
